Actress now sells salted fish
THESE are hard times for many Indonesians, including film stars.
Popular actress and movie producer Marissa Haque, for example, has turned to selling salted fish in the face of the economic crisis.
“It is too expensive to make movies now,” she said recently. “I was forced to make a career change because conditions are just so difficult.”
Haque’s business enterprise, which also includes importing meat and selling art products, has taken a dip after her office in South Jakarta was destroyed by rioters last month.
Reflecting a sentiment aired by others who were hit by the country’s worst rioting in 30 years, she said: “It just adds to our problems. All of us will end up being losers if this continues.”
